06.12.2011: BIU Sales Award: Golden autumn for the games industry

Berlin, 6 December 2011. In November eight games sold more than 100,000 copies and for this received the BIU Gold Sales Award. Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception (SONY) and Assassin’s Creed: Revelation (Ubisoft) have received a Sales Award in Gold for PlayStation 3 from the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU) and media control GfK INTERNATIONAL. For the Xbox 360 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) as well as Battlefield 3 (Electronic Arts) were honoured with a BIU Sales Award in Gold. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 also gets a BIU Sales Award in Gold for the PC as well as Sims 3: Pets (Electronic Arts), Assassin´s Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft) and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Zenimax Europe Ltd.).

Furthermore, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PlayStation has sold 3,200,000 copies and has received a BIU Sales Award in Platinum as well as the Multiplatform Award for 500,000 copies sold.
Fifa 12 has received a Platinum BIU Sales Award for the Xbox 360 and a Multiplatform Award for a total of 1,000,000 sold games for different platforms.

The BIU Sales Award has honoured the best selling games (full price versions) in the area of interactive entertainment software in Germany since 2008. The basis for the award are the sales figures of games data carriers by media control GfK INTERNATIONAL GmbH. The prize is awarded per gaming platform: For the BIU Gold Award a minimum of 100,000, for the BIU Platinum Award at least 200,000 and for the BIU Special Award at least 500,000 games have to be sold on the German market. Furthermore, games which have achieved a total of 500,000 sold units on different platforms are awarded the “BIU Multiplatform Award”.
