Felix Falk became the Managing Director of the BIU on 1 January 2017. Prior to this, he was the Managing Director of Germany’s Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body (USK) from 2009 to 2016. As vice-chairman of the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) during this period, he was jointly responsible among other things for the global rating standard for online games and apps. From 2004 to 2009, he served as the Head of Office for Monika Griefahn, Chairwoman of the Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs within the German Bundestag. In this capacity, Felix Falk was also responsible for the topic of computer games, and oversaw, among other things, the creation of the Deutsche Computerspielpreis, the most important german computer games award, which were passed by the Bundestag in 2008 and were presented for the first time in 2009.

While completing his Bachelor’s degree in social sciences and his Master’s degree in empirical social research at the University of Cologne, Sebastian was active in politics, working for, among others, members of the state parliament and the German Bundestag. He also gained insight into the private sector while serving as a consultant for various companies and working as a freelance film producer. Sebastian draws on this multifaceted experience in his position as a Consultant for Public Affairs at the BIU.


Martin Freese

On completing his apprenticeship as an event manager with Messe Husum & Congress, Martin worked as a trade fair and events project manager in the areas of renewable energies and gaming. For two years, he was responsible for New Energy Husum and for the Nordish Gaming Convention (NGC), Northern Germany’s largest LAN party. Within the BIU, Martin is applying his experience in the fields of trade fairs, congresses and gaming to gamescom and other events as a project manager.


Thorsten Hamdorf

After completing a degree in business administration with a focus on marketing and international management, Thorsten held managerial positions in marketing, product management and business development at various companies in the games and film industries. At the BIU, he is responsible for market research, member support and managing the BIU.Dev and BIU.Net networks.


Claudia Hartwig

Claudia has many years of experience as an assistant, including with games industry publishers such as Frogster Online Gaming, Gameforge and Aeria Games. She is the beating heart of the association and the person to talk to in all matters relating to office organisation. As such, she is responsible for office management at the BIU and serves as the assistant to the management.


Dr. Christian-Henner Hentsch

After completing degrees in law and history in Freiburg and Bonn, Henner served as a legal advisor to the vice chair of the CDU/CSU faction in the German parliament, covering the areas of copyright law and other fields of commercial law. He subsequently represented the interests of radio and television stations and newspaper and magazine publishers on behalf of the collecting society VG Media. He serves as a lecturer at the Kölner Forschungsstelle für Medienrecht (Cologne Research Institute for Media Law). At the BIU, he is responsible for legal issues.


Benjamin Hillmann

Benjamin got involved in various BIU projects as a working student while still studying for a degree in media studies at the Film University Babelsberg. Previously, he was responsible for media relations for the student film festival ‘sehsüchte’ and worked as a freelance author. He currently supports the BIU’s communications activities as a PR editor.

After his studies in English and History Oliver spent several years as a coordinator for Segway tours in Berlin and completed his extra-occupational degree in business administration. Now he brings in his operative experience and his long-standing passion for Games as the BIU’s marketing assistant.


Stephanie Lang

Stephanie worked in media funding at MFG Baden-Württemberg for five years. She was subsequently responsible for regional funding at the Digital Content Fund (DCF) for four years. At the BIU, she serves as a project manager for developers and the networks BIU.Dev and BIU.Net, and is also an expert on all issues of funding.


Martin Puppe

Directly after completing his degree in political science, Martin began a PR traineeship in the media department at Bitkom, Germany’s digital association / the German Federal Association for Information Technology. As a trainee and subsequently as a consultant, he was responsible among other things for games, consumer electronics and apps. At the BIU, he is responsible for public relations.


Sabine Saeidy-Nory

After completing her Master’s degree in literature and media at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Sabine took on a PR traineeship in the media relations department at the Düsseldorf branch of the technology company IBM. During this two-year traineeship, she was responsible for issues such as big data analytics, the Internet of Things/Industry 4.0, cognitive computing and the connected car. Sabine currently contributes her extensive experience in media and IT to the BIU as a Junior Consultant in Public Relations.


Lars Vormann

Having trained as a wholesale and retail salesperson (German Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Lars Vormann started off as the Managing Director of his own company in the area of street promotion. This was followed by various positions as a project manager and booth manager in the area of trade fairs and events, among other things at the Games Convention and at gamescom. He worked for a number of games industry customers such as Activision, 2K Games, Ubisoft and Mad Catz. He worked for Microsoft on the launch of the Xbox 360, Kinect for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. In the past two years, he oversaw and organised the entire Activision booth appearance at gamescom.

Gregory served as Senior Marketing and PR Manager for the mobile games provider Gameloft for five years. Prior to this, he gained three years of experience in eSports at Turtle Entertainment. At the BIU, Gregory manages the association’s marketing activities and partnerships as well as the eSports.BIU network.
